Professional Attributes & Responsibilities:

  • Extensive experience working with individuals experiencing acute and chronic mental health challenges, addictions, and/or complex psycho-social issues
  • Experience in the completion of risk assessments (self-harm, harm to others, suicidality, safety, etc.) and associated care plans
  • Experience in providing individual counseling, with special emphasis on the incorporation of best practice principles
  • E xperience completing comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and clinical formulations in order to support with triage, treatment considerations, and discharge planning
  • Extensive knowledge of community resources and referral pathways for outpatient support


Educational Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree (preferred) in regulated health care profession.
  • Membership with professional college and in good standing.
  • Minimum five years of clinical experience working with individuals living with mental health and/or concurrent disorders
  • Extensive training and recent and relevant experience providing time limited, evidenced based treatment, including Brief Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
  • Extensive training and recent and relevant experience completing risk assessments

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, combined with the ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to maintain a high-level perspective on the demand, capacity, and practical challenges of hospital and community-level systems
  • Satisfactory performance and attendance required
  • Commitment to hospital-based patient and family-centered care
  • Commitment to the vision and goals of THP mental health strategic plan
